On 29 July 2013, a meeting of the members of Keynote Board for Publishing and Qualification and Consultative Committee was held in the Central Mining Institute (Katowice, Poland). The members of the Keynote Board for Publishing are representatives of the international scientific community. The chairman of the Keynote Board for Publishing is Professor Antoni Tajduś.
The main topic of the meeting was the concept of the development of the Journal of Sustainable Mining. Here are some remarks:
The review process
The international cooperation with the reviewers is currently of importance to the editors of scientific journals published in Poland. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland, as part of the evaluation of scientific journals, awards points for the cooperation with reviewers from other countries than the country in which the journal is published (at least 50% over two years). Editors of the Journal of Sustainable Mining started international cooperation in reviewing in 2013. In the long run, this may have influence on the dissemination of research results published in the Journal of Sustainable Mining outside Poland. It is worth noting that the search for and establishing cooperation with new specialists from different countries is a time-consuming operation. Therefore, currently for the editors of the Journal of Sustainable Mining, one of the most important aspects of the publishing process is the timeliness of published papers.
Development directions
Information contained in the papers published in specialized scientific journals published in Poland is met with great interest in the world. The potential opportunity to strengthen the position of the Journal of Sustainable Mining in the market of journals in the field of mining sciences, can be taking into account original and practical aspect of published papers.
Promotion of the journal
On 11-15 August 2013, 23rd World Mining Congress will be held in Montreal, Canada. The editorial staff have prepared promotional materials that will be distributed among the participants of the congress.
